South Florida has a huge Haitian population and the recent earthquake in Haiti caused major damage there and shook South Florida. I’m watching the news right now and this is a real disaster. Our prays go out to all the Haitians and their families here and in Haiti. The news is reporting there will be a lot of support in Miami and from the US. It’s clear that there is so much damage that is unknown and news will unfold each hour.
Haitians that just got back from Haiti said that the airport was totally damaged, governmental buildings have collapsed, and homes destroyed. Hope you follow the news and support your Haitian friends.
A great way to get the news is from Twitter. Thousands of tweets about Haiti are flooding the Twitter pipeline.

Remember: Boys have a deep need to feel competent. Scouting is an excellent outlet for boys who don’t excel in competitive sports, according to Jason Wasser, a licensed marriage and family therapist who grew up in Scouting.
“There are 122 merit badges in the program,” he says. “A Scout can find some area where he can shine.”
With that in mind, Luke has gained confidence by honing his Scouting skills and building knowledge in areas that do come easily: debate, military history, and politics, for example.

We recently posted a list of restaurants that are using Twitter. This list was posted without any mention of the other website that originally posted this content. Our blog strives to post original content submitted by readers and writers. We do are best to make sure everything meets these standards. Shortly after we posted this article we received an email calling this to our attention.
In efforts to keep the blogosphere clean and clear of spam we have edited this list sent in from a reader. We’re excited about demonstrating that restaurants in South Florida have connected themselves to the social media network. The list did not strike us as something copyright protected; however, Netiquettedictates that a linkback and only a short snippet be used from another blog or website. We reviewed both lists and feel an edit might not have been necessary, but NETIQUETTE says otherwise.
We greatly appreciate having this brought to our attention, so the entire list can be found at the DINEMAG.NET website. Below are the A, B, C of Florida restaurants on Twitter.
Last week we posted an article regarding Google’s Nexus One. This post has been hugely popular and brought a lot of attention to our blog as many readers passed in on - emails, Facebook, Twitter and many other social media sites. We’ve decided to write a follow up article about the Nexus One vs myTouch and the Nexus One vs G1.
Quick G1 Review: I use the G1 and ever since they did the first firmware update to Cupcake Android, the phone functions much better. The keyboard is excellent - the size is perfect and very responsive. There are many apps in the Android marketplace that can be downloaded for free. The trackball is easy to use and the touchscreen on the G1 phone is intuitive. The only option I’m not a fan of is adding a contact, maybe there’s a G1 app to fix this? It seems there are a few extra steps in adding a contact, I just rather grab a business card and add it later. Quick myTouch 3g Review: I have explored the myTouch and seen many of the functions work well. The operating system of the myTouch 3g is basically the same as the G1 Android; however, the myTouch 3g has a faster processor. It’s weird to think of a phone in terms of processor speed, but that’s where we’re headed. Cellphones are becoming our portable computers and demand speed and multi program use. The myTouch does this job great. The only problem I have is that there is no keypad, only a touch screen. That might work well for you, but I need a real keyboard for typing texts, emails, and searching the web. These quick reviews are only a few bullet points to compare the G1 and myTouch 3g. Now once you get the differences down and fully understand we now have the Google Nexus One phone. There are many websites and blogs comparing the Nexus One with the G1 Android and the Nexus One vs mytouch 3g. The Nexus One is Google’s brand new phone and few users actually have used this phone. It’s rumored that Google passed out the Nexus One to many of Google employees to work out the kinks and it’s ready to hit the market.
Here are the Nexus One Specs. Great way to compare nexus one vs mytouch 3g, nexus one vs g1, nexus one vs iphone, nexus one vs droid.

We’d love to get more user reviews for Nexus One and user reviews for myTouch 3g and some user reviews for the G1 Android. There’s clearly a battle of the cellphones going on and it can be very confusing for new cell users. Who will win the cellphone battle, we’ll wait and see what happens?
Yesterday I opened my front door to get the New York Times and was shocked to see Prima Pasta as a cover story. The headline read “Newly Frugal Generation Revives Discount Dining” with a photo from Prima Pasta located on 71st street off Collins Ave on your way to South Beach. This is one of my favorite spots, the food is amazing and the service is perfect. A great scene, you’ll feel the vibe when you check it out.
Here’s a clip from the New York Times article written by By DAMIEN CAVE
MIAMI BEACH — The early bird special at Cafe Prima Pasta began last year after the restaurant’s owner, Gerardo Cea, lost all his savings in real estate and began seeing his regular customers at the supermarket.
“They weren’t coming anymore,” Mr. Cea said. “They couldn’t afford it.”
He expected his offer of a 50 percent discount before 6 p.m. to attract the usual crowd of frugal retirees. But word kept spreading, and on most nights now, at least half the tables are filled with young families, singles or hip couples — women in short skirts and men who prefer “dude” to “sir.”
Great to finally see a local Florida restaurant on the cover of the New York Times. The real estate market might be suffering here, but the we’re still eating well in South Florida.
Have you been looking for a great way to keep track of the beer scene? Those of you that are into gourmet beers understand the value of great beer. We’re not talking about Miller Time. Complex beers come in all flavors and prepared in many different ways - ales, stouts, IPAs, and many more. The unfortunate thing about appreciating great beers is that they’re very hard to find at bars and restaurants. They’re available on the shelf in most liquer stores, wine shops, and grocery stores. Sometimes you want to go out and grab a really good beer. The South Florida Beer Blog takes on the challenge of locating great beer bars and listing beer events in the area. We’re glad to have found this blog and hope you enjoy it.
We’d love to see these guys blog about beers available in Aventura restaurants.
The other day I was at a very packed restaurant in Aventura and a dispute broke out over smoking indoors. The manager saw a guy smoking in the restaurant and asked him to put it out or leave. He explained that it wasn’t a regular cigarette, but it was an electronic cigarette. The manager looked at him in disbelief and said put it out or leave. The man yelled, “it’s a f#%#ing electric cigarette, chill out.” What’s the deal with electric cigarettes? In the end the man left and was screaming, “it’s an electric cigarette, smokeless e-cigarette, a smokeless cigarette, leave me alone.”
I never heard of a smokless electric cigarette and did some research on Google. To my surprise there are many companies selling electric smokeless cigarettes and claiming that they’re a healthy alternative to regular cigarettes. One website even claims that electric cigarettes provide the experience of a typical cigarette, but without any dangerous cancer-causing chemicals. Can it really be true. Are these claims about electric cigarettes correct.
Smokless cigarettes have several advantages over smoking tobacco cigarettes:
· No cancer-causing chemicals to inhale.
· No cigarette butts.
· No second hand smoke.
· No complaints from non-smokers.
· Saves your health. Saves money.
· No foul odors that stick to linen, walls, cars etc.
· You can smoke inside restaurants, bars, airports, etc. even where smoking is banned.
Well I saw a guy get kicked out of a restaurant so I’m not so sure about the last item. This looks like a smokingtrend amongst young people. I feel the older crowd or real cigarette smokers are not likely to switch, but maybe not. Does anyone know if the Anti Smoking Laws cover smokless cigarettes or ban them in certain situations and locations?
The other major issue with smokeless cigarettes is health concerns of smoking. Does this mean that these cigarettes that are being marketed as a healthy alternative are really not bad? Can pregnant women use an electric smokeless e-cigarette? There are many questions that are raised with this fairly new product. The one think is for sure, many many people are trying smokeless electric cigarettes and buying these e-cigarettes online. You can purchase them at many websites and get a cheap starter kit. Most kits have a device that looks like a real cigarette and then you need to buy the refill cartridges for the electric cigarettes.
I wonder if these will take off in Aventura and we’ll see the Aventura Mall packed with smokeless cigarette smokers? Let’s wait and see what happens. Let us know if you buy smokeless cigarettes online and if you are a fan.
Here’s a few words from Rami Boaziz, the Insurance Adjuster, featured on our blog. Although the wild storm that sunk the boat in the previous post is over, a lot of damage is still lingering. Best to give Rami a call and have him evaluate your situation and insurance claim, this guy works magic.
In case you forgot the storm, here’s a video of similar rain.
Words from Rami…
Happy New Year to you and your families.
For those of you who don’t already know, I am now working as a licensed Public Insurance Adjuster with Zevuloni & Associates, P.A in Sunrise, Florida.
I have decided to take a small twist on my law career and become a Public Insurance Adjuster representing Property Owners against Insurance Companies with their property claims.
Public Adjuster’s serve an extremely important purpose during the Insurance Claim process. Just as an Insurance Company has an adjuster representing the Insurer on the claim, it is imperative for the Property Owner to have someone advocate on their behalf as well. A Public Adjuster makes sure that the Property Owner is properly compensated for the loss in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Insurance Policy. Whereas an Insurance Company is quick to deny a claim or minimize the Insured’s perception of damages, a Public Adjuster works diligently to ensure that the Property Owner is receiving the maximum compensation to which he or she is entitled under the Insurance Policy.
We represent Property Owners in all types of property claims, including, but not limited to fire, flood, pipe break, A/C leaks, hurricane, water damage and collapse, etc. Additionally, we represent residential property owners as well as commercial property, with an emphasis on representing condominium associations in large claims where experienced legal guidance is needed.
So, if you or anyone you know has property damage and is filing an insurance claim, please let them know to give me a call so I can represent them to make sure that their loss is properly valued and they receive the maximum amount to which they are entitled.
Also, we have had great success in re-opening old claims for Hurricane Wilma. If you filed a claim and believe that you were not properly compensated for your damage, let me take a look at your claim and we might be able to re-open the file and obtain additional monies for your claim.
I appreciate your referrals in advance and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you have regarding your insurance claims.
There are too many smartphones on the market. When will it ever stop? The iphone is said to be the leader, but there are many phones fighting for second and trying to take the lead. The Nexus One was just released and has so much buzz surrounding its size, function, and applications. This is known as Google’s first crack at the cellphone. But, I thought that the G1 Google Phone was the first - I have it and the phone says Google on the back. Then there is the htc mytouch isn’t that Google. All these phones use Android.
Android is Google’s firmware or operating system on cellphones. It’s chasing the iphone and many users are big fans of Google’s solution. The Nexus One is suppose to be a very pricey phone, but a lot cheaper when bought with a contract. I think that this phone is unlocked and can be used with many carriers. The Google G1, Droid, myTouch, and iPhone were all very expense when they first hit the market. The G1 was a lot of money then free offers popped up all over the web. There are also many free offers for the myTouch an example is this offer to test the mytouch 3g
Anyway, the comparison chart speaks for itself. We hope you found this interesting and maybe it even has helped your decision to get the Nexus One. Conclusion, there are too many smartphones and they’re mad expense. But, they’re very cool and will be getting cooler.
