Steps to better manage traffic flow

October 21st, 2011 · 11 Comments

Photo of new median traffic flow Southbound towards Aventura Mall at Ives Diary and Biscayne. This will likely prove to be an excellent decision to manage the huge amounts of vehicles heading East across the Ives Diary road overpass.

Tonight, avoid heading to Aventura via Ives Dairy and Biscayne. There is major road work being done as the new two right turning lanes and median are being finalized.

Check out this link to the FDOT Miami Dade site – Traffic in Aventura

Project Summary:

This project includes installing a new concrete median and island on eastbound Ives Dairy Road at the intersection with Biscayne Boulevard; replacing the plastic poles on eastbound Ives Dairy Road that separate the right-turn only lane for motorists headed southbound on Biscayne Boulevard; repaving and restriping parts of the intersection; and updating the signage and pavement markings.

It is a TERRIBLE change:(:(! Going straight or turning left can take 15 minutes after you get off I95, and nobody uses the new right turn lane because it’s no turn on red. STUPID, waste of a perfectly good lane, and please change it back!!!!

You’d have to be an idiot to say this is traffic better managed. Nobody uses the new right turn lane (except to illegally go straight…) because it’s no turn on red, and you’ve got only a one lane approach for people going straight AND people turning left. Please change it back!!!

I have worked on the corner of 26th AVE and 203res st for thirteen years. This has got to be the worst”improvement” I have ever encountered. It takes me 4 minutes to get to the office(we live on the circle) and 25 to get home. I just went to Subway by Marshall’s, it took 5 light changes to make a left onto 203rd and then a left onto the Blvd.

It would seem the timing of the lights are all off. Someone is going to get killed.

This is the most idiotic way of trying to improve traffic. It’s worse than ever! Who thought this through? It was bad before, but I’ll take bad over worse! Put it back the way it was, and spend our tax dollars on other things.

I challenge the chief traffic engineer in charge to drive from I-95 and try to go straight through US1, at 5:50 pm. Please bring along the Mayor too!
