The Miami art scene is heating up, while the air cools

November 12th, 2010 · No Comments

Winter in Miami means the world-renowned art scene is heating up. Tents are springing up at the Miami Beach Convention Center, and across the bay in the
Wynwood Arts District — all preparing to house a dizzying array of contemporary art fairs that open November 30 and December 1, closing on December 5.

From the tony Art Basel Miami Beach, and sister show Design/Miami in the Convention Center’s parking lot, to the Midtown venues where visitors will find Art Miami, Scope, Art Asia and Red Dot, arts enthusiasts will again enjoy the annual art immersion and hip parties.

New on the scene this year is the launch of SAPAL (Soho Arts Pavilion & Lounge), a new arts center with a mission to support non-profit arts organizations as well as the under-served artistic talent in our community. For the 2nd Saturdays Gallery Walk on November 13, SAPAL’s grand opening party hosts an exhibition of South Florida artists selected by Florida International Magazine for their annual Art + Design issue.

Housed at Soho Studios at The Wynwood Convention Center, which is under new ownership with a brand new management team, SAPAL and the entire Soho Studios complex hosts the first edition of ARTS FOR A BETTER WORLD from November 30 to December 5.

AFABW offers the public an opportunity to discover and purchase top quality artwork by more than 40 international emerging and established artists representing 13 countries. The exhibition is a bold endeavor to unite a large-scale commercial exhibition with the non-profit community, to convey a compelling message about the role of art in crafting a better world for future generations.

During Art Fair Week, SAPAL will also host a series of exclusive late-night parties to add to the roster of exciting events.

Food and beverage services are also part of SAPAL’s offerings, available to all events held in the 6,000 square foot lounge.

SAPAL’s entrance is located at 2151 NW 1st Court, Miami, 33127.
