14th ANNUAL FESTIVAL YACHAD

Following last year’s success, Festival Yachad will feature more than 500 dancers on stage from our own community and invited groups from Mexico, Venezuela and Panama performing to Israeli folk dance music, with colorful costumes, amazing scenery and special lighting effects.

Festival Yachad is sponsored by Safra National Bank of New York and will feature two incredible performances this year:

Festival Yachad’s Gala Performance will take place on Sunday, May 30th 2010, at 7pm at the world renowned Au-Rene Theatre at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Our Gala Performance theme is “Nashim”, which in Hebrew means “Women” and each choreography will portray either a biblical woman like Rachel, Miriam, Esther or Naomi or a modern Jewish Woman, like Golda Meir, Chana Szenes, Ofra Haza, Naomi Shemer or Sarit Haddad and some choreographies will also showcase a Jewish Tradition performed by women, like the Candle Lighting, or Challah Making, or the Mikveh, or ceremonies like the Tachdid, when the Moroccan woman gets pregnant or the Henna, before the Jewish Hindu Wedding.

This year, we are very proud to donate part of the proceeds of Festival Yachad to “Sharsheret”, a non-profit organization that serves Jewish Women living with breast cancer.

Tickets for the Gala Performance range between $ 10 to $35 and can be purchased at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts box office at (954) 462-0222 or at www.browardcenter.org

Our Children’s Performance will take place on Sunday, June 6th at The North Miami Beach Performing Arts Theatre and is sponsored by Amalia Children’s Fine Jewelry. This year’s theme is “Eretz Hadimion – Land of Imagination”. If you need tickets for that performance, please contact Roger Weiger at (305) 932-4200, ext: 152. Tickets cost $ 35.

We hope to see you there!

A note from a reader and former festival participant – Jackie Ginzburg
On its 14th anniversary, this festival continues to bring together (“yachad’) the South Florida community. The Festival has been showcased at past venues such as the Lincoln Road Colony Theater, Jackie Gleason, Michael Ann Russell JCC, North Miami Beach Performing Arts Center, and now this year, the Broward Center of Performing Arts. This is truly a one-of-a-kind show with young dancers from both South Florida and abroad performing with lavish costumes and props to a variety of middle eastern and spanish influenced music. You’ll want to jump onstage to be a part of the action.
