On Thursday, November 20th, 2008 the YFIDV (Young Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans) hosted Moshe “Mutz” Matalon, and Moran Harel of Beit Halochem for a parlor meeting at the Averbuch home in Hollywood. Mutz is the Chairman of the organization, and Moran is a veteran that was injured in Israel’s second war in Lebanon. The night consisted of words of Torah by Rabbi Chaim Albert of the Foundation for Jewish Learning, and followed by remarks from Michael Heiblum, Mutz Matalon, Moran Harel, Yeshaya Averbuch, Moshe Averbuch, and Emil Levy. Friends of Israel Disabled Veterans (FIDV) and Beit Halochem are committed to caring for Israeli servicemen and women disabled in the line of duty, as well as caring for those whose lives are shattered by terror. Beit Halochem centers provide therapeutic and recreational facilities to help them resume lives of purpose and dignity.
