There’s not a strong live music scene in Aventura. I mentioned this topic in a previous post about South Florida music. In order to experience amazing beats that make you get up and dance, you must travel from Aventura. There are many options North and South, Aventura is in the middle ground making it a central location.
Last night I decided to travel South to catch some tunes. I went to Hoy Como Ayer in Little Havana. Most Thursday nights the Spam Allstars perform at this famous location. This group is an incredible collection of musicians that jam a type of music known as Latin Funk. In addition to a horn section, percussion, and guitar, the group’s beats are created by DJ Le Spam - he spins the turntables into a complex instrument. Each different sound blends together to create a distinct addictive rhythm.
The trip from Aventura is about twenty five (25) minutes and well worth the drive. It’s a great place to let loose, relax, and dance. I highly reccomend you take a visit to the Spam Allstars’ website and check them out. All who have seen this group agree, they throw it down thick. Most of our readers tend to be older and a professional crowd, making this spot the perfect match for our audience. It’s a great mix of people - hipsters, musicians, lawyers, doctors, scientists, bankers, bartenders, dancers, and even math teachers. All go there for one reason - to dance to the music.
